After thinking what i am going to do and writing some ideas down i have now come up with doing a movie trailer which will be about 30 seconds long, i decided on this because i love watching movies and i find that the trailers are also very interesting, so i thought that it would be a good experience for me to do one and see what my would come out like. In my trailer there is going to be about 4 people and one camera person but hat can still varey i am still not yet decided how its all working, i am using my friends in my movie trailer to help me because i feel that i can work well them.
Because i am doing a teaser trailer i have decided that i want to give the feel of thriller to it and make it a bit on edge, so people will be sitting on the edges of their seats in fright. I have done some research into the thriller trailers to get me started and to think what they are about, i have looked into the conventions and storylines, here is what i have found.
Thriller trailer and conventions.
Thriller...
The conventions in thrillers are usually about the battle of bad and good, heaven and hell, and there is always a reason for something bad to happen in a thriller. A thriller film is full of suspense the fear of unknown, There are lots of different thrillers such as, Action thriller, Crime thriller, Disater thriller, drama thriller, horror thriller, legal thriller, medical thriller , spy thriller and many more. Usually though most thrillers are known for the progress of danger and the sense that something is going to happen.
Characteristics...
Thrillers often take place wholly or partly in exotic settings such as foreign cities, deserts, polar regions, or high seas. The heroes in most thrillers are frequently "hard men" accustomed to danger: law enforcement officers, spies, soldiers, seamen or aviators. However, they may also be ordinary citizens drawn into danger by accident.
Thrillers often overlap with mystery stories, but are distinguished by the structure of their plots. In a thriller, the hero must thwart the plans of an enemy, rather than uncover a crime that has already happened; while a murder mystery would be spoiled by a premature disclosure of the murderer's identity, in a thriller the identity of a murderer or other villain is typically known all along. Thrillers also occur on a much grander scale: the crimes that must be prevented are serial or mass murder, terrorism, assassination, or the overthrow of governments. Jeopardy and violent confrontations are standard plot elements. While a mysteryclimaxes when the mystery is solved, a thriller climaxes when the hero finally defeats the villain, saving his own life and often the lives of others. In thrillers influenced by film noir and tragedy, the compromised hero is often killed in the process. In recent years, when thrillers have been increasingly influenced by horror or psychological-horror exposure in pop culture, an ominous or monstrous element has become common to heighten tension. The monster could be anything, even an inferior physical force made superior only by their intellect, a supernatural entity, aliens, serial killers, or even microbes or chemical agents.
Characters...
What the character wears is, usually comes across smart, with suits and jackets, things like spy based films they all have smart clothing on, but sometimes it can changes, but it just depends on the plot.
There roles in the film...
Often in thriller films, there is one character that plays the role of a helpless person in need of rescue who however becomes brave when her help is needed. There is therefore normally a male hero who battles the bad and ultimately aims to defeat the residing evil of the situation to allow good to prosper. The evil in thriller films can be a vast majority of characters from a monster to a freak neighbour next door.
There is however some common characteristics which include revenge, anger, solitariness.
